Jun Chen joined Professor Bruce’s group in January 2021 as a postdoctoral research fellow. She works on understanding mechanism in batteries using advanced characterization techniques with a particular focus on the interfaces between the anode/cathode and the electrolyte, so as to offer fundamentals for rational approaches to solve the problems causing battery degradation.
Before joining the group, Jun Chen finished her Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry (2014) and Master's degree in Physical Chemistry (2017) from Central South University in China. Her master’s study focused on the synthesis and characterization of titanium-based nanomaterials for use in Li-/Na-ion batteries. She then came to Department of Materials at University of Oxford to do DPhil study in materials science and completed in January 2021. Her DPhil project focused on the atomic-level understanding of two-dimensional (2D) materials defects and behaviours using advanced electron microscopy.
