Dr Christian Kuss

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Christian Kuss

Christian conducted his undergraduate studies at the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, and received his Ph.D. degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada in August 2014. In his doctoral project he worked in close collaboration with Phostech Lithium, Inc. (now Johnson Matthey Battery Materials), looking at lithium mobility within the positive battery electrode material LiFePO4 through characterization of chemical (de-)lithiations and empirical atomistic modelling. Following his graduation, Christian joined a national collaboration between three Canadian universities and General Motors on light alloy corrosion research. Hosted by Janine Mauzeroll, McGill University, Canada, he investigated the microscopic processes taking place in light alloy corrosion using Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy and Finite Element Modelling.

Christian joined the Bruce group in January 2016 as NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Canada) postdoctoral fellow. He is interested in mechanisms of lithium and sodium transport in positive electrode materials.
