Dr Miguel Angel Pérez

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Miguel Angel Pérez conducted his undergraduate studies at Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico. He then moved to Barcelona in Spain, where he obtained his PhD in 2013 with the thesis “Development and application of ab initio methods for the study of electronic excitations in molecules and extended solids: GW approximation and constrained DFT”, at Autonomous University of Barcelona and Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, under the supervision of Prof. Pablo Ordejón and Dr. Miguel Pruneda. He then worked as a postdoc at University of Oxford, in the group of Prof. Feliciano Giustino, investigating perovskite solar cells and water splitting on semiconducting materials.

Miguel Angel joined the Bruce group in January 2018 as a postdoctoral researcher. He is interested in designing and modelling cathode materials for Li and Na ion batteries, using first-principles methods.
