The Peter Bruce Group relocated from St Andrews University to the Department of Materials at Oxford University at the start of November 2014.

Professor John B Goodenough from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has been awarded the Nobel Prize for his work at Oxford. His research made possible the development of lithium-ion batteries, introducing the mobile phone era and transforming lives worldwide.

On the same day he received in London the Royal Society Copley Medal for his excellent work.

In a meticulously illustrated lecture Prof Peter Bruce , the 20th Kelly Lecture speaker, who had been succinctly introduced by Lindsay Greer, focused on three topics: all solid state batteries; storing charge on oxygen ions; and electrical energy storage.
