The Bruce Group

The Bruce Group

The Bruce Group's research interests embrace materials science, solid-state chemistry and electrochemistry, with a particular emphasis on energy storage. There are three research themes in the group: cathode materials, all-solid-state batteries and the lithium-air battery. Current work is focused on understanding the processes taking place in cells and using this knowledge to devise strategies to improve performance and lifetime.

The Group's state-of-the-art laboratories are housed in the recently refurbished Rex Richards Building. The labs are well equipped with instrumentation for synthesis, electrocemical testing and advanced characterisation, including in-situ and operando tecniques.

Prof. Bruce has been listed as a "Highly Cited Researcher" by Web of Science each year since 2015 - recognising the important contribution the Group is making to the field.
